What is Depression?

Depression can sneak up on anyone. It can show up in your body as heaviness, sleepiness, restlessness. You may feel tired, not hungry, or irritable. Sometimes depression makes us more sensitive to criticism, overwhelmed by daily tasks, or makes our relationships with others difficult. You could experience loss of pleasure in activities that you once enjoyed or find it difficult to get through your day.

Depression can occur because of genetics, past or current trauma, body chemistry, daily stress, unforeseen circumstances or personal loss. Any one or combination of these factors could leave you suffering from depression.
